Scientists Who Lift was started to promote a community for all types of STEM scientists who are not only into lifting but into fitness. Scientists Who Lift is a place where scientists can be scientists as well as athletes. It is an open, no judgement free zone on all of our social media platforms. This merchandise was created to promote the SWL brand all over the world and for scientists to represent proudly their brain and muscle gains

The media and movies portray scientists as either weak, frail and out of shape people, but we are fighting to change that stereotype and promote health and fitness throughout the science community. We will achieve this in future by hopefully doing speaking engagements at universities and even research facilities to speak about the importance of maintaining a healthy balance to research and working out. Also, showing how fitness can help your overall brain function.

I don't think there is one category you can place the Scientists Who Lift brand in. I think that is what makes the brand so very unique. This brand came to life one day while I was in between bench press sets and I started thinking are there others out there like me. Other scientists who like to lift and stay fit. I know I have been called an anomaly many times but I know that couldn't be true, I knew I could not have been the only one! There are others and it was my mission to find them and bring them together in a community where we could support and encourage each other.

As the founder of this brand, I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow with a dual appointment at Fisk and Vanderbilt University studying modulation of the immune response. Received my Ph.D. from Howard University in 2020 in Biochemistry. I am from a little big town in Indiana called Fort Wayne. I am also a competitive powerlifter that competes in the USAPL federation in the 90kg class. I have been competing since 2016 and I absolutely love it. I am so happy to have started this brand that represents me and many other people so well and hope to continue to grow this brand and this amazing community.
